Founded by scientists and rooted in conservation, your Amazon trip with us is more than a tour — it is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure you will remember forever.

Privately guided Amazon rainforest tours in Peru

Your Amazon adventure should feel personal, flexible, and unforgettable. That is why every Iquitos Amazon tour with Grand Amazon Lodge & Tours includes your own experienced, friendly, and knowledgeable English- and Spanish-speaking private guide.

From the moment you arrive in Iquitos — whether we meet you at the airport before 3:00 pm or pick you up from your hotel at 10:00 am — your guide will be with you throughout your journey. They will lead your morning, afternoon, and night excursions.

With a private guide, your Amazon trip becomes truly your own. You can slow down, ask more questions, spend extra time looking for the wildlife you care about most, or simply enjoy taking in the beauty of the rainforest in a more private setting.

Amazon Discovery Lodge

Best Jungle Immersion at Grand Amazon Lodge And Tours

At Grand Amazon Lodge & Tours, you do not just visit the rainforest — you wake up inside it. Relax in your hammock on a private river-view balcony, surrounded by pristine jungle, birdsong, and the magical sounds of wildlife all around you.

After a day of Amazon adventures, enjoy delicious authentic Peruvian meals prepared by our excellent chef in our beautiful octagonal dining room, complete with an original canoe bar and free WiFi so you can share moments from your unforgettable Peru Amazon trip.

Our lodge is located near San Juan de Yanayacu, which is part of the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Reserve, an area known for its extraordinary biodiversity. Many of the lodges near Iquitos are in secondary forest with scarce wildlife.

We are also the only lodge on the Yanayacu River with solar panels, electric sockets, and fans in every room. This means more comfort for you and less need for noisy generators. Also, because we are the furthest lodge upstream from other lodges and villages, there is less noise from passing boats — allowing you to relax, unwind, and experience the true beautiful sounds of the Amazon.

Our Mission

The founders are five scientists who not only love nature and wildlife but also seek to protect, study, and educate others about it.

While enjoying and learning about the largest rainforest in the world on this Amazon trip, you will directly help conserve it and support the locals through your stay with us.

Our Wildlife and Community Projects

A release site for rescued manatees

In April 2023, two Amazonian manatees rehabilitated by RAREC (Rainforest Awareness Rescue & Education Center) were released into the protected waters by the lodge — which serves as their post-release research base. We have also released a giant anteater, two toe sloth and an armadilo.

Raising river turtles for release

Together with the local village, we reintroduce the Taricaya turtles into our area. After being placed in a sandbox, the eggs hatch and are raised for 3 weeks before being released back into the wild near our lodge.

Free medical care for river communities

With Nova Southeastern University’s Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, the lodge has brought free exams, treatment and medicine to hundreds of people in nearby villages.

Schools, supplies and opportunity

Alongside the Nevada Building Hope Foundation, the lodge helped build the area’s first high school and provides uniforms, shoes and supplies to local students.

"The Best!!"

I can’t say enough good things about this tour and the people who run it. My experience was so much more than I hoped for. My guide was extremely knowledgeable and helped me see tons of wildlife… The chef is incredible, the lodge itself is absolutely beautiful, and the people who work there are so kind, welcoming, and eager to tend to your every need or desire. I highly, highly recommend!

"Amazing"

We had a wonderful experience with Grand Amazon Lodge & Tours. They made us feel at home in the jungle. Our guide went out of his way to make sure we got the most out of our experience, we spent so much time on the Amazon river and saw so much wild life, it’s truly fantastic. Our tour was also individualized, so it did not feel like we were actually doing a tour. I recommend this place to everyone!!!
