Iquitos - City Tour

On your city tour, you will visit Plaza de Armas, the Amazon river beachfront, some of the famous houses in the city, and the vibrant Amazonian market of Belen. You will then take a car to CREA. You will have a private guide just for your group to escort you and tell you the history of the city throughout the tour.

Iquitos - Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation

CREA is the largest wildlife rehabilitation center in Iquitos and is known for its manatee release program. It is also involved with the rehabilitation and release of monkeys, river otters, sloths, yellow-spotted turtles and various birds, like macaws. Iquitos - Tribal Experience

In the Tribal experience you will visit an Amazonian tribe along the river. To get there you will first have to take a motorcar or a car to the main port of Iquitos and then take a boat ride to the Amazonian village. In there you will see them dressed and decorated like their ancestors. You will see them dance and showing hunting skills. You may even join them in the dance or try the blow dart.

Iquitos has a beautiful butterfly farm. To get to it you need to take a motorcar or a car first to the main port and then take a boat. In the butterfly farm you will learn and see all the stages of the butterfly metamorphesis. then you will enter an area where many different butterfly fly around. Iquitos - Monkey Island Tour

Monkey Island is a rehabilitation center for monkeys and is located one hour by speed boat down the Amazon river. The island is home to many different species of monkeys, from spider monkeys to wooly monkeys and many others. Many of these monkeys have been rescued from illegal pet owners or were injured and need rehabilitation. They roam free on the island and can be seen in close proximity. At times they may climb on you. To get to Monkey Island you first need to take a motorcar or a car to Iquitos main port, and then take a one hour ride by speed boat down the Amazon river. The island is home to many different species of monkeys, such as the spider monkeys, wooly monkeys, pigmy marmeset, sake monkeys, titi monkeys and mostage tamarines. The monkeys roam free on the island and can be seen in close proximity. At times they may climb on you. This tour provides a really close, intimate encounter with these intelligent and curious creatures. Iquitos - Accomodations

When you book one of the Iquitos tours you will have an option, in the cart, to add a reservation and transportation to and from the airport for 2 Iquitos hotels. Palau Amazonas hotel is a three-star, modern, clean hotel that includes breakfast. It is a 5-minute walk from Plaza de Armas. For 2 people its rates are around $60 a night.

DoubleTree by Hilton is a four and a half star hotel with restaurant, bar, and pool located at Plaza de Armas. For 2 people its rates are around $120. If you choose one of these hotel options, we will make the reservation for you and you will pay the hotel upon arrival. If you do not reserve one of the Iquitos tours but would still like us to reserve these hotels for you just write it in the note section of the reservation. This may be the case if your flight arrives after 2pm or if your departure flight leaves before 12pm.

Since it takes a little less than 4 hours to bring you to the Grand Amazon Lodge & Tours, and we do not sail the Amazon river at night, we must leave Iquitos by 2pm to reach the lodge before dark. Similarly, we do not leave the lodge before 6am and so the soonest we will arrive at Iquitos airport will be 10am. Make sure that your departure flight is after 12pm or else reserve an Iquitos hotel for your last day.
